The Research Institute of Grain and Legume Crops began its operations in 1997 under the name "Research Institute of Grain and Legume Crops on Irrigated Lands."
The Institute was established as the "Research Institute of Grain and Legumes on Irrigated Lands" by Resolution No. 413 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated August 25, 1997. It was later renamed to the "Research Institute of Grain and Legumes" by Presidential Decree No. PP-2125 "On Improving the Activities of the Uzbek Scientific and Production Center of Agriculture" dated February 10, 2014.
It was reorganized based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-6159 dated February 3, 2021, "On further development of the knowledge and innovation system in agriculture and provision of modern services," and the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PP-4975 dated February 3, 2021, "On organizing the activities of the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan," as well as the Order of the Ministry of Agriculture No. 23 dated February 8, 2021, and the Order of the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture No. 2 dated February 12, 2021.
